Response to Megatrends

In the "Society and Contribution to Urban Development" domain, we are addressing major megatrends, such as climate change, urbanization, and demographic change through our comprehensive neighborhood approach. This approach involves deploying various strategies to tackle complex challenges like housing shortages, increasing social diversity, expanding infrastructure and mobility needs, and promoting climate-friendly new construction and refurbishment across our portfolio. Recognizing that each neighborhood has unique circumstances and requirements, we believe that the neighborhood level is ideal for developing sustainable, customized solution strategies to address these key challenges and foster valuable synergies. Our objective is to transform our neighborhoods into environments, where our tenants can thrive, feel connected to their communities, and actively engage in development processes. This inclusive approach is essential for securing our long-term success. It also involves actively fostering social diversity, bolstering local community bonds through targeted initiatives, and ensuring resilient infrastructure that encompasses and benefits everyone.

Through our diverse social engagement strategies, we are shaping our neighborhoods into inclusive environments and enhancing access to housing, social networks, and infrastructure—especially for those facing challenges. In this effort, we consistently seek to balance ecological sustainability with social inclusion considerations. The presence of our employees in the neighborhoods is pivotal to our success. They serve as the bridge between Vonovia and our customers, ensuring customer satisfaction and playing a key role in enhancing the quality of life in our properties. By being closely connected with the community, we can effectively address their needs and cultivate neighborhoods where everyone feels at home and lives sustainably together.
